Joao Gilberto – La Vem A Baiana
Here is a great Brazilian Jazz song by one of Brazil’s finest – Joao Gilberto. I am going to be posting some more Joao Gilberto in the future and I will talk more about him then. For now, enjoy the music.

( @TOP ) Tower Of Power has a band name very true to their sound. They are a very powerful 10-piece Soul and Funk band. Tower Of Power has been playing together for over 40 years and still tour today. It is really tough to pick out one of their songs but I decided on one with vocals and of course a lot of power. I also recommend checking out “Squib Cakes”, “What Is Hip”, “Don’t Change Horses”, “Soul Vaccination”, “Souled Out”, “Can’t Stand To See The Slaughter”, and whatever else you can get your hands on.
Here’s a super funky song you may not have heard in a while. Rose Royce released “Car Wash” in 1976 for the hit movie Car Wash. They also had a couple other hits on the sound track including “I Wanna Get Next To You” which is a great song.
@Yo_la_tengo Here is a great unknown song by the very underplayed indie rock band – Yo La Tengo. I had the chance to see them live a few times in High School and College but it’s been a while. They are still playing out and will be at the Pitchfork music festival in a week or so for those people in Chicago and they are opening for Wilco before then for my New Yorkers. These guys are an awesome live show because they write really good songs and their lead singer/guitarist Ira Kaplan does some really awesome sounding feedback-ish solos. You won’t see another band like these guys. I strongly recommend checking out some of their stuff on Grooveshark, YouTube, or whatever else you use to listen to music for free.
Dear Your Daily Song Fix readers,
Your Daily Song Fix has always believed that less is more. This is why we post one song every day and we don’t even ask that you download it. You can come to our website and press the play button, instant get-ification.
The purpose of this post is to let you know that we will no longer be posting songs on the weekend. The reason is simple. We have minimal traffic on the weekend and we have quite a few people unsubscribing during the beginning of the week. I think people get back to their email on Monday and are overwhelmed by possibly 3 emails from us in their inbox.
This change will give us more time to come up with better song fixes and hopefully the people who have unsubscribed will consider joining up again. Please send suggestions on how to improve our service to dailysongfix@gmail.com. Also note that you can now make song requests by clicking on the “Submit Your Song” tab.
Thank you to those who have supported us from the beginning. I appreciate all of your song requests and website suggestions.
Happy Independence Day!
-Tony Amoyal, Founder of Your Daily Song Fix
Winterlong is a great rock song originally written by Neil Young but also done well by The Pixies. Enjoy this live version from The Fillmore East.
One of my favorite Brazilian songs. The title translates to “What I’m Like Without You.”
Uncle Tupelo officially formed in 1987 and broke up in 1994 when Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy’s musical relationship had decayed. Jeff Tweedy retained the remaining members of Uncle Tupelo and started the successful Wilco.
