Gordon Lightfoot – Softly

Gordon Lightfoot is like chopped liver…well at least in the sense that he is an acquired taste. I picked up a Gordon Lightfoot album when an employee at Orpheus Records (R.I.P.) in Arlington made the recommendation. On first listen I didn’t really like him, but after getting through the album a few times I started to really like his music. I can easily say that Gordon Lightfoot is one of my all time favorite folk artists. If you like good folk, grab one of his albums and give it a few listens.

Ron Carter – Saguaro

Ron Carter is an incredible Jazz bassist. I have been wanting to own his album Piccolo for a long time but these days I mainly purchase records so the selection is somewhat limited and the purchases are relatively sporadic. I finally grabbed Piccolo from the Amazon mp3 store last week and just as I remembered, the album is amazing. “Saguaro” is my favorite tune off the album. Set aside 18 minutes of your time, lie in bed with the lights off, and enjoy the one of the best Jazz recordings available.

The Jackson Five – Who’s Loving You

I don’t think I need to say much about The Jackson Five. “Who’s Loving You” is my favorite Jackson Five song and also the best display of Michael Jackson’s voice as a child.
